You will always find a great selection of trees to choose from at Hennessy’s. Whether it’s a small tree for a small space or a stately specimen for a larger site you’re looking for, we’ve got it.
Throughout the year we stock top quality sought after varieties of Prunus, Sorbus, Malus, Salix, Laburnum and Pyrus together with more unusual varieties such as the stunning pocket-handkerchief tree Davidia involucrata and lots of fantastic Japanese maples, Magnolias and Witch Hazels. Of course you don’t need exotics to have a great looking garden. Among the native Irish trees we stock are the silver birch Betula pendula and the Hornbeam Carpinus betufolius both of which would be high on any list of good lookers, and are both suitable for a small to medium sized gardens. Our own favourite though has to be our native beech Fagus sylvatica. Any other tree can not excel the rich golden copper of its autumn foliage, and given a well-drained soil it will thrive to form a most noble tree. There are many named cultivars that we stock including Fagus syl. ‘Dawyk’ which forms a very attractive columnar tree, Fagus syl. ‘Purpurea’ the Purple Beech, Fagus syl ‘Dawyk Purple’ a splendid narrow tree with deep purple foliage, and Fagus syl ‘Purple Fountain’ which is a superb narrow growing weeping tree.
