Conifers! In Your Garden...
The beauty and range of forms, the wide range of shape plus their overall adaptability make conifers indispensable plants for ornamental planting. There are conifers to grow in most soils and conditions, even difficult areas such as waterlogged ground or exposed maritime gardens.

We pride ourselves on our conifer selection, and we endeavour to have an interesting range at all times, offering our customers some of the more unusual conifers together with the more popular varieties.

Dwarf and Patio Conifers

With the reduction in size of the modern garden there has been tremendous upsurge in interest in miniature conifers. Excellent in pots, the rock garden or in mixed borders, there is always a lot of dwarf conifers to chose from at Hennessy's. Some of the more interesting varieties that we generally stock include Abies balsamea ‘nana’ the Dwarf Balsam Fir, Cryptomeria vilmorinana, Cryptomeria jap. ‘Elegans nana’, Picea glauca ‘Echiniformis’, Picea mariana ‘nana’, Picaea pungens glauca ‘Globosa’, and many, many others.

Specimen Conifers

It is fair to say that we love our large conifers. All you have to do is look at our selection at any time of the year to see lots of super specimens and even the odd rarity or two. All competitively priced too. Often the selection includes large Gingko biloba (Maidenhair Tree), Picea breweriana (Brewers Spruce), Cryptomeria jap. ‘Elegans’ (Japanese Cedar), Abies concolor (Colorado Fir), Metasequoia glyptostroboides (Dawn Redwood), Picea pungens ‘Koster’ (Kosters Blue Spruce), four Cedar varieties, a couple of Yew varieties, a weeping Juniper, Sciadopitys verticillata (Umbrella Pine) and even a few Monkey Puzzles.
